Veteran New York City singer and songwriter Lauren Kinhan continues to bridge musical genres that span jazz, pop, blues, folk, classical and Brazilian jazz with ease and aplomb. Her rich and expressive vocals and melodies, her poetic lyrics and inventive arrangements combine to create a truly unique and powerful artist. Legendary Phil Ramone describes Lauren as a true songstress, like Joni Mitchell and Phoebe Snow: "She is musical, lyrical, and really delivers vocally".

Lauren recorded her debut solo CD in 2000 entitled Hardly Blinking. It was produced by Phil Ramone, Frank Filipetti (Grammy winning producer of James Taylor) and Rob Mounsey (Paul Simon, Steely Dan). She is putting the final touches on her much anticipated follow up release that was built in a trio setting with cameo appearances from many of New York's great players, Donny McCaslin, Romero Lubambo, Andy Ezrin, Joel Frahm, Kate McGarry and with a very special guest appearance by Jonatha Brooke – admittedly the darling of singer/songwriter-dom. Here is my Avalon melds more closely her love of the Jazz Standard and the Pop Song. Ben Wittman co-produced this CD with tremendous care and attention to detail and it's scheduled for a July 2008 release.

Joining forces with the illuminati of Moss pushed Lauren to compose and arrange for the group. She has three original songs on the new CD. Moss is a welcome revival, putting a fresh face and voice to the collaborative spirit. Over the years, Lauren worked with Bobby McFerrin on his choral project, recorded and toured with Ornette Coleman, and worked with such renowned artists as Herbie Hancock, Janis Siegel, Nancy Wilson, Kenny Rankin, Paquito D’Rivera, Ivan Lins and Jonatha Brooke. Lauren is a longtime member of the vocal jazz quartet, New York Voices, who share two Grammy Awards with projects they recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra and Paquito D’Rivera, respectively. Their August 2007 release, A Day Like This, includes two songs written by Lauren and a stand out performance on a Stevie Wonder classic, Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing.
